My husband and I wanted to plan a unique wedding. We made things a little less traditional than what our circle of friends and family are used to. We got married on the beach, but I still wore a traditional white wedding gown by Vera Wang. It was beautiful and I felt amazing, but when I look back, I think I could have done something a little edgier. The brides in Birmingham, England have the right idea. More and more woman are choosing to forego the traditional white dress and have fun with color. During ther National Wedding Show in Birmingham, an array of colorful wedding gowns were displayed.

British designers are providing wedding gowns in peacock blue, red, chocolate brown and peach — with some brides thinking traditional white meringue as something dated, the Daily Telegraph reported Saturday.

I agree. I think colored gowns would look great. Not to mention how much money we all shell out for those dresses, it’s a shame we can only wear them once. Buying a colored gown would make brides more apt to wear them again. I actually wanted to dye my own wedding dress another color, but couldn’t find a place that would do it. I could have sent it off in the mail somewhere, but it would have been outrageously expensive so it wasn’t worth it. I might as well just buy a new gown for another occasion if I have to.

Also, white, being the traditional symbol of virginity, seems somewhat of a joke these days with so many couples living together and even having children before the wedding day. That being said, white wedding gowns are gorgeous and they are traditional and I’m sure brides will still be seen wearing them as long as there are still weddings around.

When I was a bride-to-be almost 5 years ago, I remember the excitement that flowers and dresses and color schemes brought me. Ok, color schemes might excite me even more now that I’m obsessed with decorating my house, but that’s another story. I remember browsing the racks at the bookstore looking at wedding books and magazines.

Magazines were my favorite. Each month leading up to my wedding, I waited for the new issues of Modern Bride & Martha Stewart Weddings to be published so I could tear through them and rip out pictures for my “wedding binder”. Magazines were such a great resource because there was always something new to look at and read. I mostly saved pictures of hairstyles, flower arrangements, and dresses, but the little tips on ettiquete, food, drinks, saving on your budget, and ways not to kill your fiance were invaluable.

Photo agencies such as Corbis and GettyImages are coming after people who are using their photos without licenses. Thats right, they want to get paid. Celebrity wedding photos are a big part of their business.

That photo of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes on your Web site could be fodder for a lawsuit.

The typical, or should I say, popular, gifts for Groomsmen are everything silver. Why is that the case? Yes it looks good, but is it just because of availability? I mean stores just sell alot of common groomsmen gifts and they all happen to be “classy” looking silver trinkets.
