Jewish Wedding Dance

Reception February 8th, 2008

Wedding receptions are joyous celebrations, with much singing and many traditional dances. A lively Israeli dance called the Hora is performed at the Jewish wedding reception. While they hold on to either end of a handkerchief, bride and groom are lifted into the air on chairs by their joyful guests, as they are celebrated as ‘king and queen of the night’.

For a good example, check out this Hora dance to Hava Nagila:

Happy Anniversary Jen and Kevin!

marriage January 23rd, 2008

I just wanted to wish Jen and Kevin a very happy 10 year anniversary. I don’t know them, but they seem like a very happy, normal and nice couple.

My husband and I have been married for over 7 years and together for 12.  Although I wouldn’t say we have sunshine blowing out our asses, life is good. We are happy. :)

So to all the happy couples out there……cheers to you!

Britney’s Budget for Hubby

Celebrity Weddings March 15th, 2006

The New York Post claims Britney is so fed up with K. Fed’s freewheeling ways with her cash that she’s decided to reach into the extra-deep pockets of his baggy he-capris and grab hold of his purse strings.

“Each month, he will be allotted a certain amount of money for personal use — i.e., clothing, nightclubs, booze and day-to-day activities,” a spy tattles to the paper. “Any big items — cars or trips that go over allowance — need to be approved by Brit herself.”

Which means he can continue to buy all the white tank tops, cigarettes and corn row-sessions he wants, but any future Ferrari purchases require a thumbs-up from the missus.

Full Story

Personally, I don’t get why this is such big news and such hot gossip. Shouldn’t BIG purchases like that be discussed with your spouse anyway? I don’t care how much money someone has and who makes it, things like that need to be OK’d by both partners. What is a marriage if everyone just does whatever they want, buys whatever they want, goes where ever they want without talking it over with their spouse?!?! I never thought I’d say this, but GOOD FOR BRIT! It’s too bad her husband needs to have an allowance, but apparently he is too immature and irresponsible to have full access to their (or rather, her) money.

It’s Not Your Mother’s Tupperware

Wedding Gift Ideas, For the Bride December 21st, 2005

Hmm, who woulda thought that tupperware wasn’t just a thing from the past? My mom still has this one piece from way back when - like in the 60’s - that she calls “the vault”. It’s hilarious…burnt orange top with ridges that is almost impossible to get off. She stores all her homemade goodies in there in the freezer. Why she bothers to then put a rubberband around it, I’ll never know.

Meanwhile, tupperware is totally making a comeback. And why shouldn’t it? - this stuff lasts a lifetime! Just like we all hope our marriages do. You can now open your own Tupperware Gift Registry for your wedding…how cool is that?!

Wedding Bells for Brad and Angelina

Celebrity Weddings December 15th, 2005

When are these two hotties going to tie the knot? The rumours of them being together have been going on forever and it’s about time it is public knowledge that they are a couple. How cool that Brad is adopting Angelina’s two kids. I guess they are doing the first comes baby, then comes marriage thing. Whatever floats their BMW. ;)

I wish I could be a fly on the wall of that wedding when it happens. I always thought they would make the most beautiful couple. I love Angelina and I love Brad. They are both smokin’ and I imagine they would have a really cool and unique wedding. No standard ballroom affair for them.

Build Your Own Engagement Ring

Rings, For the Groom, For the Bride November 11th, 2005

For some, the surprise of the proposal and the ring your man has picked out is half the fun. As much as I love my husband to death and appreciate his taste, I wanted my ring to be the perfect ring. For me that meant knowing what it looks like and helping him pick it out. The design your own ring programs online are the perfect solution. Your man can feel like he designed it all on his own, but he’s sure to know you’ll love the ring b/c you created it together.

Go to Build Your Own Ring icon and check out all the options. This is an awesome tool. Have fun and happy diamond shopping!!! :-)

Print at Home Invitations

Invitations, For the Groom, For the Bride November 5th, 2005

The wedding invitation. It sets the tone for your entire big day. There seems to be a new movement towards printing your own invitations at home. This can work and it can look as good as a professionally done invitation IF you have the right materials. You need a really good printer, preferably a laser…and ofcourse the right paper. Nowadays you can actually buy the paper used for professionally printed papers. At printathomeinvitations.com, they have 7 different categories of paper ranging from “Traditional” to “Lavish Looks” to the “Latest Trends” for sometimes just a fraction of the price. For example, this beautiful invitation called Satin and Stripes can be purchased blank for $22.00 per set (Box of 10 with blank envelopes).

Or you can have it personalized by their website and printed professionally for $349.00 per 100. For some it is certainly worth the convenience of having it all taken care of, but for others it is definitely worth the savings if you like the feeling of having your wedding invitation somewhat “handmade”.
